Bree Adams, Psy.D.

Licensed Psychologist

Welcome! My name is Dr. Bree Adams and I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist. My areas of expertise and clinical interest lie in interpersonal relationships, particularly premarital and marital relationships, disordered eating, depression, anxiety, and trauma recovery. I believe I can help you grow and reach your goals for therapy and life in general. While I believe it is essential for you to have a trusting alliance with me in order to bring about the most change in your life, I will use a largely relational and directive approach to effectively aid in your individual growth. My focus is to prioritize your needs while holistically incorporating aspects of culture, spirituality, relationships and your values into our therapeutic work.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, college students at a university counseling center, adults, couples, and the geriatric population, working with individuals coping with chronic illness and severe medical and psychiatric challenges in acute hospital settings. I received my Masters and Doctoral degrees from Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University. My doctoral training consisted of primarily psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as emotion-focused therapy, client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and I am certified in trauma-focused CBT.

If you are seeking couples work, I use emotion-focused therapy for couples, as this has been found to be highly helpful for couples to experience breakthrough in their relationships. Utilizing emotion-focused therapy techniques, I will work to help couples develop skills in de-escalating conflict, minimizing negative patterns of communication, increasing and bolstering the couple’s positive factors and enjoyment of one another, increasing safety and emotional intimacy, and helping each partner identify and nurture their primary attachment needs.

In addition to psychotherapy, I provide comprehensive psychological evaluations to help individuals learn more about themselves, answer potential questions surrounding learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, or other concerns surrounding concentration, memory, or intellectual functioning.

Aspects of my life that highly influence who I am as a person and who you will meet within the therapy room, is I am a wife, mothe, aunt, friend, mentor, pianist, coffee lover, and an overall compassionate and dynamic person.
