Adult Psychological Assessment from a Neuropsychological Perspective
We use sophisticated psychological tools to understand an individual’s intellectual, cognitive, social/ emotional functioning, to illuminate underlying neuropsychological processes that may be contributing to a person’s performance and functioning.
Reason for Assessment:
Rule out Learning Disabilities: Identify challenges with attention, concentration, memory impairments due to Traumatic Brain Injury, challenges with learning and retention, and determine accommodations for vocational and/or academic success.
Academic Achievement: Understand challenges with passing standardized tests and determine the potential need for academic or vocational accommodations.
Social/ Emotional: Often needed for evaluation for admission processes for employment, adoption, immigration status. Determine whether an underlying process is affecting social emotional functioning, or to understand why an adult may be struggling with social or romantic relationships.
Relationship Between Intellectual and Achievement Functioning: Is there a learning disorder, or processing deficit that makes everything feel like so much of a struggle? If so, how can address these deficits?
Comprehensive Child/ Adolescent Psychological Evaluation
A child/adolescent psychological evaluation gathers sophisticated information about a child’s emotional, psychological, social, cognitive, and academic functioning and to integrate such information into a comprehensive understanding of the whole child.
Reasons for Assessment
Diagnostic Clarification: Answer why is my child struggling? What’s the basis for my child’s anxiety or depression? Is my child unmotivated or is there a reason why we struggle with academic success? Why can’t my child concentrate? Why is my child so disorganized? What’s the basis for my child’s severe oppositional behavior and tantrums? Does my child show difficulty in his thought process? Is my child experiencing symptoms related to trauma?
Underlying Process: I know my child is struggling, but I can’t pinpoint what the underlying issues are.
Developmental Concerns: What are the developmental gaps that my child is missing? My child seems different but I can’t put my finger on what it is. Where is my child stuck developmentally?
Personality Assessment: My child has had something happen in their life and I want to know how best to help them for their future. How has my child’s self-esteem or personality been affected?
Treatment Recommendations: How do I best help my child? What can I do to help him/her become psychologically more healthy? What is the best treatment for my child?

Child Therapy
Family Therapy
Child Therapy
Child therapists take a strength-based, developmental approach toward wholeness rather than a view of disability or dysfunction. Current research in neuroscience and attachment theory indicate that there is brain neuroplasticity and that a relationship with a trained psychotherapist can help to remove emotional and cognitive roadblocks, provide individuals with a secure attachment, and restructure neural networks to transform the whole person’s inner, emotional life and cognitive functioning. Through a relationship with a skilled clinician, a child can access the deep wounds that develop after a stressor or trauma, help a child express their fears and conflicts in their inner world and integrate that with their more behavioral, relational outer world. Child therapists also collaborate closely with their primary caregivers to encourage strong, connected relationships.
Play Therapy
“Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, children’s natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words.” - Garry Landreth, Ph.D.

Family Therapy
Family conflicts often take a life of their own. Using a systemic approach, often powerful dynamics that are hard to break can challenge the equilibrium in the family. Family therapy can help break dysfunctional patterns, improve communication, and strengthen family relationships. Whether it is parent-child conflict, sibling rivalry, intergenerational trauma, a skilled clinician will help family members express themselves, while encouraging shifts in the status quo to develop greater capacity for empathy, understanding and relational healing.
Intensive Family Therapy
Having trouble getting the whole family together only to have the session end too quickly? Intensive treatment is available with an extended treatment session to facilitate deeper exploration of family dynamics and change. Family intensives can be scheduled for 1.5-2 hours
Couples Therapy
Marital therapy
couples counseling
Marital therapists utilize attachment-based Emotion Focused Therapy to help couples who are in distress to regulate problematic emotional states, understand unwanted self-experiences, and develop the communication skills needed for co-regulation. Marital relationship can work through the cycle of conflict to achieve a state of vitality and harmony.
For couples interested in pre-marital counseling, research indicates that couples who engage in pre-marital counseling reduce the likelihood of future divorce by 80%. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure!

Integrated Listening Systems
The Integrated Listening Program was developed to help the brain change through neuroplasticity and form new neural connections. Coordinating brain and body movements through the inner ear’s bone conduction, the brain can change, become more regulated, and have increased control, attention and concentration. The iLS system can assist with self-regulation, auditory processing, mood, attention/ concentration, anxiety management, and cognitive skills. The iLS program combines movement, listening and visual stimulation to use a multi-sensory approach to brain integration and re-training the brain to become more efficient, and effective.
